A story set in Berlin in 1928
Written by Amina Zaman, the one-act philosophical comedy is inspired by real events. The play depicts the encounter between two important figures in Russian theater, Konstantin Stanislavski and Mikhail Chekhov, at a Turkish café in Berlin in September 1928.
In addition to Stanislavski and Chekhov, the play’s third character is Güler, a young Turkish woman who works at the café. Elements of Turkish culture are incorporated into the story through the natural flow of the play.
Turkish coffee and the art of marbling
Set in a Turkish café, the play features Turkish tea, Turkish coffee, Turkish delight and coffee-ground fortune-telling, as well as references to Istanbul.
An ebru art presentation was held as part of the event before the theater performance. The premiere of "Stanislavski/Chekhov" will take place in November.
