She took the stage in Damascus after 15 years
Assala Nasri’s return to Damascus attracted significant attention days in advance. After arriving at Damascus International Airport with her family on September 15, the artist began preparing for her concert in the capital.
Thousands of people filled the Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall for the concert titled “Awdat al-Assala” (Assala’s Return), held on September 17. The concert marked the artist’s first stage performance in Syria in nearly 15 years.
She left Syria after 2011
Born in Damascus, Assala Nasri openly supported the protests during the uprisings that began in Syria in 2011, taking a stance against the Bashar al-Assad administration of the time.
Assala was expelled from the Syrian Artists Syndicate during this period, left her country and did not return to Syria throughout the Assad administration. During this period, the artist continued her career in various countries, particularly Egypt.
Her last concert in Syria was in 2010
Assala’s last stage performance in Syria was a charity concert held at the Damascus Opera House in February 2010. The artist has now taken the stage in her country again after nearly 15 years.
A special concert program was prepared for her return

Assala’s concerts in Damascus are being held as part of the “Summer of Syria 2026” events with the support of the Syrian Ministry of Culture and the Syrian Artists Syndicate.
Following her first concert on September 17, the artist is scheduled to take the stage for a second time at the Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall on September 19.
Before her return, Assala also released a new song titled “Assala,” expressing her longing for her homeland and her bond with Syria. The song was viewed millions of times within a short period.
