Infrastructure and terminal investments are continuing at two airports in Antalya, where air traffic is heavy during the tourism season, to increase passenger capacity and provide more comfortable services.
Antalya Airport capacity rises to 82 million
As a result of the work at Antalya Airport, its annual passenger capacity has increased from 35 million to 82 million. The number of aircraft parking positions has also risen from 108 to 176.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin said investments at the airport were continuing simultaneously. While the VIP and CIP terminals were being renovated, a State Guest House, a service building for the Chief Directorate of the State Airports Authority, staff housing and a mosque were also built.
Work was also carried out at Gates A, C and D; the security checkpoint entrances to the VIP and cargo terminals; the general aviation terminal; the hangar area; the apron; and the taxiways. Work to expand the domestic terminal and Terminal 2 was completed, and the terminals were opened for service.
Second-phase investments at the airport are continuing. A tower resembling the lighthouses of the Lycian civilization will also be built at Antalya Airport, with construction of the tower underway and completion planned for next year.

Road routes within the airport are also being reorganized because of the increase in passenger and vehicle traffic. Şahin said the roads had been opened, only minor work along the curbs remained, and the work would be completed shortly.
Şahin said traffic at the airport had been greater than expected, creating a need to reorganize the internal roads. He added that Antalya Airport had become one of the world’s leading airports in terms of capacity.

VIP lounge under construction at Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport
Infrastructure improvement work has also begun at Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport, which serves tourism in Antalya’s eastern districts. The airport serves an average of 1 million passengers a year, while its current capacity stands at 2 million passengers.
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport has six aircraft parking positions. Şahin said the existing terminal was inadequate and that the airport had no VIP lounge, announcing that construction of a new VIP lounge had begun.
Şahin said Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport was important for tourism in Alanya and Gazipaşa. He said the aim was to provide better services to passengers by expanding the terminal and completing the VIP lounge.
Work at Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport is scheduled for completion in October.
