Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan should run once more and be elected president for a third time, calling on parliament to take a decision to renew elections, with the vote to be held in 2028. Under Article 116 of the Constitution, a president in his second term may run again if parliament decides to renew elections with at least 360 votes. Bahçeli summed up the political formula for the coming five years as “Erdoğan in the executive, MHP in the legislature.”
