Borsa Istanbul started the new week on a buying note. The BIST 100 index, which fell below 14,000 points on Friday under selling pressure, climbed back above the critical threshold on the first trading day of the week.
The index rose 84.53 points, or 0.61%, from the previous close to open at 14,028.40. It had closed on Friday at 13,943.87, down 0.95%.
Banking and Holding Shares Rise
On the first trading day of the week, banking and holding shares also saw a positive trend. The banking index gained 1.44%, while the holding index rose 0.80%.
Among sector indices, transportation was the biggest gainer, up 2.06%, while financial leasing factoring fell the most, dropping 3.76%.
Global Markets Support
The positive tone in global markets also supported the rise on Borsa Istanbul. The pause in mutual attacks between the US and Iran increased expectations that geopolitical risks in the Middle East could ease. This development boosted risk appetite and positively reflected on the BIST 100's opening.
Technical Levels and Data Agenda
Analysts noted that the domestic data agenda is quiet, while abroad, Germany's Ifo business confidence index, US durable goods orders, and the Dallas Fed manufacturing index will be monitored.
Technically, the BIST 100 index sees resistance at 14,200 and 14,300 points, with support at 14,000 and 13,900 points.
