The German Bundeswehr has announced that it is examining how Ukraine’s digital battlefield system called Delta could be integrated into its own structure. Sven Weizenegger, head of the German military’s Cyber Innovation Hub, made this assessment during the New Age Defense conference in Berlin.
Weizenegger said he has given instructions to study Delta and that whether the system will work effectively will be determined through this process. He also emphasized that the German military aims to learn from Ukraine’s experience in this field.
Technology Cooperation Talks Between Germany and Ukraine
Weizenegger explained that concrete areas of cooperation are being discussed between the German Cyber Innovation Hub and Ukraine’s defense innovation cluster Brave1. It was noted that both sides are talking about joint projects and potential areas of collaboration.
He added that the German side has asked Ukraine about companies capable of solving specific problems, while Ukraine can select projects that are of interest to them. This indicates a mutual technology matching effort between the two parties.
Germany Discusses Innovation Pressure Accelerated by the War
According to Weizenegger, one of the main lessons Germany has drawn from the Ukraine war is the need to advance innovation in defense much faster. However, he noted that since Germany is not at war, this speed must be achieved under peacetime conditions.
Weizenegger also stated that the German military is working to reduce bureaucratic obstacles that slow down innovation processes, aiming to approach the pace of Ukraine’s actions. He mentioned that efforts are underway to establish the necessary legal framework and tools for this.
Previously, it was reported that Ukraine and Germany signed an agreement to share digital battlefield data to develop new weapon systems. The examination of the Delta system signals that this cooperation is expanding into the realms of technology and defense data.
