The General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) officially announced that the second flush fresh tea purchase campaign will begin on Wednesday, July 8. The institution reminded that the first flush purchases were completed as of June 28 and issued critical warnings to producers regarding the new period.
Warning of congestion at buying centers
ÇAYKUR emphasized the great importance of conducting the harvest process in a controlled manner, drawing attention to the unique conditions of the second flush period. The statement noted that general weather conditions and the spread of mechanized harvesting could lead to congestion at buying centers.
ÇAYKUR stated that uncontrolled congestion could cause both disruption to the purchase process and a negative impact on product quality. Therefore, the institution noted that producers must comply with all practices, particularly the appointment system and daily purchase limits.
Appointment system and purchase limits in effect
ÇAYKUR pointed out that congestion that may occur during the purchase process could lead to chaos and that this situation could negatively affect the sustainability of tea farming. The institution's statement included the following: "Congestion during the purchase process may lead to chaos, and the quality problems caused by this situation could negatively affect the sustainability of tea farming."
ÇAYKUR reported that daily purchase limits will be kept at the highest possible level throughout the second flush to prevent producers from suffering any grievances. The institution stated that all planning was carried out with the aim of preserving both current production and the future sustainability of tea farming.
The institution concluded its statement by wishing that the second flush period would be auspicious for all producers and sector stakeholders.
