President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Parliament had taken a major step this week as part of the Terror-Free Türkiye process. Erdoğan said the process aims to free Türkiye from the problems caused by terrorism.
Erdoğan made the assessment after meeting at the Presidential Complex with the families of Turkish soldiers and police officers killed in terrorist attacks and with veterans.
Scope of the bill
The bill titled “Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration,” adopted on Monday, regulates the judicial procedures to be applied if competent authorities determine that the PKK, KCK and affiliated groups have ended their activities and laid down their arms.
The legislation sets out the procedure for suspending investigations, criminal prosecutions, judgments already issued and related proceedings following this determination.
Message of support for martyr families and veterans
Erdoğan said that living in a free, peaceful and secure country was the legacy of martyrs and veterans. He stressed that the families of those who lost their lives protecting the country's unity and territorial integrity were the responsibility of the state.
Erdoğan said that all state resources had been mobilized to support martyr families and veterans in line with this understanding. He added that, by acting with patience, common sense and composure, they would permanently rid Türkiye of terrorism.
