President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a statement marking World Humanitarian Day that Türkiye would continue supporting people in need around the world. Erdoğan said they aimed to offer hope to people in Gaza as well as those affected by conflicts and disasters.
Erdoğan said Türkiye remained one of the leading countries in the field of humanitarian aid. He noted that this approach was rooted in the country's history and centuries-old civilizational values.
Erdoğan said Türkiye was the world's largest provider of humanitarian aid as a share of national income, adding that humanitarian assistance was an issue that transcended politics.
A call for the international community to take responsibility
Erdoğan said more than 300 million people were deprived of basic necessities and struggling to survive amid severe deprivation. He said this situation should serve as a call for the international community to assume responsibility.
Erdoğan said helping people in need, orphans, the vulnerable and those without anyone to support them was a religious injunction, stressing that Türkiye would continue supporting people facing hardship in different parts of the world.
Erdoğan said Türkiye would continue to be a source of hope for people affected by oppression and conflict, particularly in Gaza.
