The Turkish Forensic Medicine Institute has put an end to the debate surrounding the death of actor Ece Artem, who died last month at the age of 35. According to a report by Hürriyet newspaper, the final autopsy results showed that death was caused by acute alcohol poisoning and the interaction of prescribed antidepressant and anxiety medications.
The report stated that the high blood alcohol level combined with the chemical interaction of the drugs caused a sudden and severe collapse of the nervous and respiratory systems, and that this was the direct and sole cause of death.
These findings also officially closed the 'monkey bite' claims that emerged after Artem's death. The actor's lawyer had applied to the prosecutor's office based on family statements that she had been bitten by a monkey in Thailand shortly before her death and three wound marks on her arm. The forensic report, however, definitively confirmed that the monkey bite had no effect on her health condition or death.
Ece Artem celebrated her 35th birthday on June 14 and cheerfully responded to congratulatory messages from friends on social media. She passed away the next day, June 15.
Born in Sivas in 1991, Artem graduated from Yaşar University's Opera and Vocal Department and then trained at the Sadri Alışık Cultural Center. Throughout her career, she appeared in productions such as 'Şerbetli', 'Payitaht Abdülhamid', 'Zengo', and 'Sandık Kokusu', which aired in 2024.
