CHP Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol shared his views from the Party Assembly meeting on his social media account. Erol noted: I do not find the resignations of our Party Assembly members appropriate and consider them their own choice. However, I do not agree with the requests from our friends for me to resign as well. At our party's 37th Ordinary Congress, I was elected to the Party Assembly with one of the highest votes in CHP's history. Therefore, my responsibility is to protect the rights of my party and its members and to express my opinions and suggestions during Party Assembly meetings. I would like to share the criticisms and suggestions I raised in today's Party Assembly meeting with the public.
I expressed that I do not find it appropriate for the police to enter our Headquarters following the absolute annulment decision and for people to gather in front of the Headquarters early in the morning. I also stated that I do not approve of the display of official vehicles in front of the Headquarters. I suggested that instead of disciplinary processes being directly handled by the Central Executive Committee decision, a commission process related to disciplinary actions should be initiated first.
I pointed out that there might be unfair practices among our friends referred to disciplinary action, citing the case of Gökhan Günaydın as an example. I emphasized that the ordinary or extraordinary congress process should be initiated as soon as possible within legal grounds, and that the division experienced in our party can only be overcome through the will of the congress.
Additionally, I stated that our Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu should publicly announce that he will not be a candidate in the upcoming ordinary or extraordinary congress. I firmly expressed that I do not find it right to establish a separate party or to resign from the party to join different political formations.
I stressed that such an approach is not compatible with CHP's party culture and history; whoever contributes to the perception that CHP is dividing will be held accountable by history. I do not find the resignations of our Party Assembly members appropriate and consider them their own choice. However, I do not agree with the requests from our friends for me to resign as well. At our party's 37th Ordinary Congress, I was elected with one of the highest votes in CHP's history.
