Ministry of Trade teams launched inspections on packaged water prices after the Turkish Environment Agency raised the Deposit Return System Participation Fee (DEKAB) to 1.5 lira as of July 1. Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Trade teams are also continuing inspections across the province.

Istanbul Provincial Trade Director İsmail Menteşe, participating in inspections in Kağıthane, said that following complaints, it was determined that some businesses unfairly reflected the DEKAB increase in their sales prices.

Menteşe stated that around 100 businesses were inspected across Istanbul yesterday, and the detected violations were referred to the Unfair Price Assessment Board. "Today we are again conducting water and mineral water price inspections in Istanbul. In the two places we visited together today, we saw that the difference is over 10 lira. This is the price difference between June and July 3. We are keeping records regarding these," he said.
Emphasizing that administrative sanctions ranging from 180,000 lira to 1,800,000 lira can be imposed for each transaction where an unfair price increase is detected, Menteşe stated that inspections are being carried out simultaneously in 81 provinces upon the instruction of the Ministry of Trade, and that the checks will continue resolutely to protect the economic interests of citizens.
