The Ukrainian government sees a low likelihood that Hungary will block the country's European Union membership process again.
Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, responsible for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, made remarks ahead of the intergovernmental conference to open the first negotiation cluster in Luxembourg.
Kachka responded to a question about whether Hungary would complicate the process again if it demanded concessions from Ukraine regarding the rights of the Hungarian minority. He said the Ukrainian side has reached an agreement with Hungary on the most important issue.
According to Kachka, the policy concerning national minorities has been fully harmonized. Hungary has also joined the action plan prepared for national minorities.
The Ukrainian official stated that this framework is acceptable in terms of the 2022 national minorities law, education legislation developed since 2015, and language regulations progressing since 2022.
This assessment comes after tensions between Ukraine and Hungary over minority rights in Ukraine's EU membership path. The Kyiv administration believes the process will not be blocked again by political bargaining.
