Major League Soccer (MLS) is pursuing a more aggressive transfer policy to recruit globally recognized football stars following Lionel Messi's commercial success in Miami. While Mohamed Salah, a key player for Liverpool, is expected to leave the team at the end of the season, MLS is particularly interested in San Diego FC acquiring Salah. Mohamed Mansour, the Egyptian-British billionaire owner of San Diego FC, is showing special interest in the Salah transfer. However, the high-cost offers from the Saudi Pro League complicate the transfer process. MLS officials stated that San Diego FC has been granted special negotiation rights for Salah's transfer. This indicates that MLS is acting outside its standard discovery process for the player's transfer.
Although San Diego FC cannot offer Salah a high salary, they plan to provide alternative benefits such as club shares. This method was previously used in the transfers of David Beckham and Lionel Messi. The Mansour Group's investment in the Right to Dream project, which has football academies in Africa, the USA, and Denmark, could be part of this offer.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber stated that Salah joining MLS would be a significant gain for the league. However, San Diego FC currently has Anders Dreyer playing in a similar position to Salah, and the club must make roster adjustments due to a transfer dispute involving player Hirving Lozano.
Additionally, it has been reported that Neymar's transfer negotiations with FC Cincinnati are ongoing. Neymar continues to play for Santos while maintaining hope of being selected for the Brazil National Team. The outcome of the transfer process will become clear in the upcoming period.
