Pakistan has announced that it will continue its mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that diplomacy and dialogue must remain the primary path despite escalating military tensions.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Anderabi stated on Thursday that the recent wave of tensions offers little hope, but Pakistan has not abandoned its initiatives. Anderabi emphasized that the country's efforts should not be interrupted.
Expressing deep concern over the escalation in the region, Anderabi said that reaching a comprehensive agreement is only possible through diplomacy and negotiations. The spokesperson reiterated the call for a "peaceful resolution."
The Pakistani official also mentioned that the country's interior minister recently visited Tehran and conveyed a message from the Pakistani prime minister to the Iranian leadership. This contact was described as part of the mediation process.
The announcement came on the same day the US launched a new attack on Iran, to which Tehran responded. US officials accuse Iran of trying to buy time in the negotiations.
Pakistan views the ongoing tension between Iran and the US as a security issue that could affect not only the two countries but the entire region. Therefore, Islamabad wants the negotiation channel to remain open rather than allowing the conflict to escalate.
It was also recalled that the war between Iran, the US, and Israel began on February 28, and despite a ceasefire announced in April, clashes have intensified again in recent days. Pakistan's statement shows that mediation efforts continue amid this situation.
