President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message commemorating the 10th anniversary of Operation Euphrates Shield.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message commemorating the 10th anniversary of Operation Euphrates Shield.
In a post on the Türkiye-based En Sosyal platform, Erdoğan remembered those who lost their lives in the operation with mercy and expressed gratitude to veterans. He said the operation demonstrated the strength of the Turkish army and reflected Türkiye’s position against terrorism, conflict and instability in the region.
Operation Euphrates Shield was launched in northern Syria on August 24, 2016, through cooperation between the Turkish army and the Syrian National Army. The operation aimed to eliminate Daesh and other terrorist elements that threatened the security of the region.
