President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will take the floor on Tuesday, the first day of the high-level general debate at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Erdoğan will be the fourth speaker on the first day. The speeches will continue after Jordan; Brazil will speak first, followed by the host country, the United States.
Key topics of the speech
Erdoğan is expected to focus on Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip, the need to recognize Palestine as a state and possible international measures against Israel.
This address will mark Erdoğan's 16th participation in the United Nations General Assembly. During the general debate, the heads of state and government of member countries will present their priorities to the international community.
New York program
During his visit to New York, Erdoğan will hold bilateral meetings with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as well as with the heads of state and government of various countries.
The program also includes events with representatives of Turkish citizens living in the United States, the Turkish-American business community and think tanks.
Erdoğan will also speak on Wednesday at the United Nations Secretary-General's Climate Summit. The United Nations' annual Climate Change Conference, COP31, is planned to take place in Antalya in November.
Brazil's practice of being the first speaker at the General Assembly has continued since the 10th session of the United Nations General Assembly, except in 1983 and 1984.
