A demonstration was held in Sweden’s Odenplan Square at the call of numerous civil society organizations. Protesters demanded an end to attacks on Gaza and Lebanon.
Protesters chanting slogans against Israel carried banners stating that civilians were being killed in Gaza and that schools and hospitals were being bombed. The banners also called for an end to the attacks on Lebanon and the food shortages, as well as an end to the war.
Activist Arnholt criticizes political parties
Swedish activist Jonas Arnholt, who supported the demonstration, argued that the humanitarian catastrophe was the result of Israel being given the freedom to continue its attacks. Arnholt also criticized Israel’s attacks in Gaza and its raids in the West Bank.
Calling Israel a “terrorist state,” Arnholt said anti-Zionist politicians should come to power in countries.
Arnholt also addressed Sweden’s elections, which will be held on September 13, and argued that the parties in parliament had failed to take a clear stance against Israel’s policies. Arnholt claimed that the existing parties, including the Left Party, had not distanced themselves from what he described as Israel’s war policy, and said that some parties had pointed to Iran regarding responsibility for the war.
