While the Turkish National Team crushed millions of hearts by exiting the World Cup after just two matches, football also disappointed investors on Borsa Istanbul. The four major clubs traded on the stock exchange have frustrated investors with consecutive capital increases, while also signing a historic failure in share performance.
The only loss occurred in sports. In the last year, when the BIST 100 Index rose 61.88% on Borsa Istanbul, the only sectoral index to lose value was the sports index, with a 17.87% decline.
