An important step was taken in the historical artifact restitution processes coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The 13th panel, believed to belong to the large composition of the 'Gypsy Girl' mosaic located in the USA, was repatriated to Turkey. Research conducted by Grenoble Alpes University and examinations by Ministry experts confirmed that the piece bears similarities to other parts of the mosaic. After an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the panel was brought to Turkey via Turkish Cargo through the Chicago Consulate General. The artifact was delivered to the Ankara Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and, after completing procedures, will be exhibited at the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated on his social media account that this restitution was achieved through scientific studies and diplomatic initiatives and thanked those involved. The 'Gypsy Girl' mosaic, discovered in 1998 at the ancient city of Zeugma and associated with the Dionysus cult, is considered one of Turkey's significant cultural heritages.
