TÜBİTAK Launches International Call for Disaster Technology Projects
TÜBİTAK has launched the 'EUREKA Disaster Resilience, Response and Recovery National Call' to support Turkish organizations in developing international projects in disaster technologies.
TÜBİTAK is launching a new call program based on international cooperation for the development of technologies resilient to disasters. The 'EUREKA Disaster Resilience, Response and Recovery National Call' aims for private sector companies, universities, and public institutions to form joint consortia and produce innovative projects.
Program scope and objectives
The program aims to develop solutions for natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and forest fires, as well as human-induced disasters like industrial accidents and infrastructure failures. Reducing loss of life, limiting environmental impacts, and increasing resilience against climate change-related risks are among the program's core objectives.
Supported technology areas
Projects in many priority areas will be supported under the call. These areas include:
Resilient building and infrastructure systems
Early warning and digital forecasting systems
AI-supported disaster modeling and geographic information systems
Unmanned rescue robots and sensing technologies
Uninterrupted communication and alternative energy solutions
Post-disaster waste management and circular economy applications
Mobile health, water safety, and hygiene systems
Project conditions and funding
Projects must be prepared with the participation of organizations from at least two different EUREKA member countries. The total program budget is set at 2.5 million euros, while the budget for project partners in Turkey cannot exceed 500,000 euros. The maximum project duration will be 36 months.
Support rates vary according to the type of organization. The support rate is 60% for large-scale organizations, 75% for SMEs, and can go up to 100% for public research institutions and universities.
Application process and calendar
Turkey-based organizations that have made an international EUREKA application and received a positive preliminary review can apply to the call. The deadline for international applications is set for October 26, and the national call will open on the same day.
Organization-based pre-registrations can be made until December 15, and final project applications until December 16, 2024. Universities and public research centers must apply as part of a consortium, not individually.
