Turkey has translated its breakthrough in renewable energy into international rankings. According to the "Turkey Energy Transition Fact Sheet 2026" report published by BloombergNEF, Turkey ranked 5th in the world in wind energy capacity and 10th globally in solar energy capacity as of 2025.
The report indicates that Turkey will continue to increase its weight in the global renewable energy market. The country is expected to bring approximately 25 gigawatts of new wind energy capacity online between 2026 and 2035.
A significant leap in renewable energy capacity is also projected with the realization of around 19 gigawatts of wind projects that received licenses last year and will be integrated with storage systems.
2030 target in solar energy
The growth momentum in solar energy is also notable. According to the report, Turkey's current installed solar energy capacity is expected to double by 2030.
Rapid expansion is also forecast in the battery storage market. Thanks to falling costs, the expansion of domestic production, and increasing reliance on renewable energy, Turkey's battery storage capacity is calculated to reach 8 gigawatts by 2035.
