Professor Canan Dağdeviren was selected for Worth’s 2026 Groundbreaking Women list. The selection recognizes women who have distinguished themselves in fields including science, technology, business, health, media and culture. Dağdeviren was included alongside Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX; Lisa Su, president and chief executive officer of AMD; Daniela Amodei, president of Anthropic; Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO of Waymo; musician Dua Lipa; and actor Emma Stone.
Worth’s official list identifies Dağdeviren as an associate professor at the MIT Media Lab. The researcher works on devices that conform to the human body and flexible technologies that help monitor or analyze health data. Her work focuses on examining movement, pressure, sound, electrical activity and biochemical changes originating in the body through conformable devices.
Dağdeviren’s academic work focuses particularly on wearable health technologies, body-integrated devices and medical technologies designed for early diagnosis. At the MIT Media Lab, she serves as the founder and director of the Conformable Decoders research group. She also leads research and technology development focused on women’s health through the WHx Women’s Health Program.
Dağdeviren’s position at the MIT Media Lab was confirmed effective July 1, 2026. The development marked an important step toward allowing the researcher to continue her academic work and research leadership in health technologies at the same institution.
Worth’s 2026 Groundbreaking Women event was held in New York on September 15, 2026. Dağdeviren was among the speakers at the “Mothers of Invention” session, which focused on women’s health and medical technology. Her work was thus featured not only in academic circles but also in an international program organized around technology, business and women’s leadership.
Dağdeviren’s inclusion in Worth’s selection is significant because it places a scientist connected to Türkiye on the same international platform as influential women in global technology and health. Her receipt of the Global Women Leadership Award at the Global Summit of Women held in Istanbul in 2026, followed by her inclusion on Worth’s list, shows that the international visibility of her work in science, women’s health and engineering continued throughout the same year.
