MKE has established a company named Zafer in Cairo, Egypt, to manage commercial activities and joint production projects in the defense industry.
Speaking at the El Alamein International Airshow in the city of El Alamein, Keleş said they were focusing on joint production and development projects with Egypt in the defense industry.
Joint production agreement with Egypt
MKE and Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production signed a memorandum of understanding covering the joint production and development of defense industry products, particularly explosives.
Keleş said MKE had signed a contract with Egypt for the joint production of energetic materials, explosive materials and various ammunition components.
Keleş said Egypt had also shown interest in the MKE TOLGA system and announced that a symbolic sale of TOLGA had been made to the country. He said the groundwork had been established to offer the system to African and Gulf markets through a joint venture to be set up in Egypt.
Zafer company established in Cairo
Keleş said Zafer, established under Egyptian law and wholly owned by MKE, had begun operations in Cairo. The company will manage MKE’s commercial activities in Egypt and become MKE’s partner in joint production facilities to be established.
Zafer will represent MKE in partnerships to be formed with local companies in Egypt, with the aim of contributing to commercial activities in Africa and the Gulf region through this structure.
Seeking joint production in different countries
Keleş said MKE was holding talks to establish joint production mechanisms in different countries in addition to pursuing exports. He said joint venture processes in Canada were continuing, announced that some investments would be considered in the United States and added that a localization option was available in a tender in Malaysia.
Keleş said MKE’s expertise gained from ammunition and weapons production had become important for technology transfer, adding that the company was working to expand its production network, business connections and market across different regions.
A joint production model is being developed that would combine Egypt’s capability to produce military vehicles with MKE’s turret, command-and-control, hard-kill and soft-kill solutions.
Keleş also said the historical, religious and political ties between Egypt and Türkiye were important for cooperation in the defense industry.
