Syrian Minister of Local Administration and Environment Muhammad Anjarani, Tourism Minister Mazen Salhani, Director General of the Syrian Fairs and International Markets Directorate Muhammad Hamza, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ömer Bulut, and Deputy Head of the Urban Transformation Directorate Savaş Keçeci attended the opening ceremony of the reconstruction fair held in Syria.
A total of 45 organizations from Türkiye and the Gulf countries, led by the Housing Development Administration (TOKI), opened stands at the fairgrounds. Deputy Minister Bulut visited the Turkish stands and the TOKI section, reviewing the projects and contacts being conducted.
Türkiye shared its urban planning experience
Bulut said the fair had attracted high participation from both countries and companies. He said that holding such an event after the war showed that Syria was looking to the future with hope, adding that the fair also demonstrated the capacity of Syrian local companies to do business.
Bulut said Syrian companies could become more integrated with the world from now on, adding that Türkiye was one of the countries with which Syria could establish the closest relations during this process.
Bulut said several major Turkish private-sector companies were also attending the fair, adding that Türkiye had shared its experience in urban transformation and social housing practices with its Syrian counterparts.
We conveyed to our counterparts Türkiye’s experience, developed from urban transformation to social housing practices, along with its technical and administrative aspects.
Investment opportunities in Syria to be assessed
Bulut said Turkish private-sector companies could assess investment opportunities in Syria. He added that Türkiye could hold talks with Syrian authorities to address obstacles to investment.
Bulut said he believed Syria would recover in terms of reconstruction within a short period, adding that the cities would be rebuilt in a way suited to their own cultures.
Construction workforce highlighted
Bulut said Syria had a large number of skilled workers and technical teams who could work in construction, noting that stonemasons from Aleppo were well known. He said workers had also been brought to Türkiye from Aleppo, adding that partnerships with Syrians could help contribute to the country’s reconstruction.
