Türkiye will compete at the Samarkand Chess Olympiad with 15 players
Türkiye will compete for medals in the open and women’s categories with 10 players at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand.
Türkiye will participate in the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand with 15 players. The national players will compete in the open and women’s categories over 11 rounds using the Swiss system.
Open and women’s categories
GM Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, GM Ediz Gürel, GM Işık Can, GM Vahap Şanal and GM Emre Can will compete in the open category.
In the women’s category, IM Ekaterina Atalık, WIM Gülenay Aydın, WIM Sıla Çağlar, WFM Ceren Tırpan and WFM Beren Kalyoncu will compete for medals.
Chess Olympiad for people with disabilities
The 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities will also be held in Samarkand. WCM Handenur Şahin, Uğur Deniz, Süleyman Saltık, Meriç Pehlivan and Ege Yazar will represent Türkiye at the event.
The event will conclude with an awards ceremony on September 27.
