Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced in a message to employees that the company will change its organizational structure. The plans include reducing management layers, simplifying team structures and reorganizing some roles.
The restructuring will reduce the workforce by about 10%. Most employees affected have been notified.
Organizational structure to be streamlined
Khosrowshahi said the decision was not related to the company’s financial performance or employees’ individual contributions. The move is intended to make Uber’s increasingly complex organizational structure leaner and faster as the company grows.
The company expects a smaller, simpler structure to accelerate decision-making. It plans to direct the resulting savings toward growth, innovation and future investments.
