US military says it targeted a senior ISIS leader in Syria
US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a senior ISIS leader, Ali Husayn al-'Ulaywi, was killed in an airstrike in northwestern Syria on June 19.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a senior ISIS leader was killed in an airstrike in Syria last week.
According to a statement on the command's social media platform X, the precision strike on June 19 in northwestern Syria neutralized Ali Husayn al-'Ulaywi, a senior figure in ISIS.
The statement emphasized that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to prevent terrorists from planning attacks targeting Americans abroad or on US soil. CENTCOM said its forces continue to work with partners in the region.
