U.S. Representative Matthew Whitaker made significant statements to Fox News ahead of the NATO Summit to be held in Turkey next week. Whitaker highlighted Turkey's defense industry capacity as an example, stressing that other allies should achieve a similar structure.
Whitaker said, "We need all our allies to be more like Turkey. For example, having an industrial base that can produce 50 ships at the same time. Turkey is doing exactly that in its shipyards right now."
Noting that he visited Turkey a month ago and saw İzmir, Istanbul, and the İncirlik Base in Adana, Whitaker described Turkey as an "incredibly capable ally." Stating that Turkey is seriously committed to the NATO alliance and to the security of both itself and its allies, Whitaker said, "That is why we must continue to strengthen this relationship."
