Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that he and US President Donald Trump agreed to meet during the NATO Summit in Ankara.
In a social media post on Saturday, Zelenskiy said he had a phone call with Trump. During the call, he congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US independence.
Describing the phone call as 'very good,' Zelenskiy thanked the US for its support to Ukraine. 'We attach great importance to US support in defending our independence,' he said.
Zelenskiy noted that he and Trump also discussed the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war. He said there is a 'real chance' to end the war and that the US stance would be decisive in this regard.
The two leaders agreed to continue discussing the issue directly during the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara next Tuesday and Wednesday.
