Ambassador Alkan presents his credentials to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia Ferhat Alkan presented his letter of credence to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu on Friday. Alkan said the ceremony coincided with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia Ferhat Alkan presented his letter of credence to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the Presidential Palace in the capital Mogadishu on Friday.
Following his appointment as ambassador, Alkan said he was pleased to present his letter of credence to President Mohamud. He said the ceremony coincided with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Somalia.
Alkan said the occasion also marked the 15th anniversary of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife’s visit to Somalia.
Alkan said Türkiye fully supported Somalia’s efforts in the areas of security and development, as well as initiatives to strengthen its institutional capacity. He said they aimed to advance relations between the two countries to a higher level.
Alkan said this goal would be based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and common interests, adding that they aimed to contribute to the shared prosperity of the two peoples through friendly relations.
