ASELSAN displayed the satellite of GÖKBAĞI, its communications constellation for low Earth orbit (LEO), for the first time at the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026) in Antalya. General Manager Ahmet Akyol told TRT Haber that 198 satellites would operate together in the constellation, that ASELSAN is also designing the satellites’ chips, including its own beamforming (BFIC) chips, and that launches are expected to begin in 2028-2029.

Speaking to Anadolu, Akyol said: “We are designing it starting from the chip. The design of the chips inside belongs to ASELSAN.” He added that the project is marketed abroad as Astralink and described it as dual-use. Akyol also said ASELSAN recently hired its 10,000th engineer: “With that young generation, while everyone walks, we keep running.”
