The Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters will host its first official event as part of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8. The Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters, whose foundation was laid on August 30, 2021 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is preparing for its first official event.
The campus, whose construction is largely complete in Ankara, will host visiting defense ministers and senior NATO representatives during the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit on July 7-8. The headquarters, which opened its doors to the press for the first time during the Ministry of National Defense's weekly press briefing, plans to hold a reception in the 'Yıldız' section during the summit.
The campus, designed with inspiration from the Turkish flag featuring a crescent and star, will house the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the Land, Naval and Air Force Commands on the same campus.
The headquarters, built with a smart building concept, environmentally friendly architecture and advanced technology infrastructure, is equipped with cybersecurity, ballistic protection, security systems against Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats, and advanced engineering solutions.
The Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters, considered one of the world's few military headquarters with its security infrastructure supported by the Steel Dome concept, is intended to serve the current and future needs of the Turkish Armed Forces for many years.
