AZERBAIJAN / SHUSHA – A historic step is being taken within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The heads of religious affairs of OTS member countries will hold their first official meeting on June 30 in Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.
The summit will be attended by the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, along with the highest-level representatives responsible for religious affairs from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The meeting is considered one of the most comprehensive institutional gatherings among religious bodies in the Turkic world to date.

The discussions will focus on developing cooperation among Turkic states, increasing institutional experience sharing, and further strengthening fraternal ties based on common historical and cultural values.
The most notable agenda item of the summit is the establishment of a permanent cooperation mechanism among the presidencies of religious affairs and related institutions under the umbrella of the Organization of Turkic States. The implementation of this mechanism aims to develop joint projects, hold regular consultation meetings, and institutionalize coordination in the religious field.
The meeting, to be held in Shusha, which stands out for its historical and symbolic significance, is expected to mark the beginning of a new era in strengthening unity and solidarity in the Turkic world.
