Beşiktaş has sped up its transfer planning following the appointment of Vincenzo Italiano as head coach. The black-and-white team has set its sights on Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu.
The 22-year-old player, currently with English Championship side Leicester City, is among the names Beşiktaş is monitoring. Fatawu fits the club’s young player criteria and is considered in the planning under the 10+4 foreign player rule.
One of the profiles fitting the young player criteria
The transfer strategy is particularly focused on players under 23, with Fatawu standing out as a key candidate. Beşiktaş values such profiles highly in its squad restructuring for the new era.
Abdul Fatawu joined Leicester City from Sporting in the summer 2024-2025 transfer window for a fee of 16.25 million euros. In the past season, the 22-year-old scored 9 goals and provided 8 assists in 44 matches.
Market value around 20 million euros
The Ghanaian player’s current market value is estimated at about 20 million euros. Beşiktaş’s evaluation to strengthen the wing line highlights Fatawu’s performance and age as key factors.
It is also recalled that Football Director Önder Özen expressed satisfaction with the unchanged 10+4 rule during his signing ceremony and mentioned ongoing efforts for the +4 quota. Özen noted that the technical staff requested players under 23 years old.
