The body of Erlan Dzhumabekov, a Kyrgyz national working at a hotel who went missing after swimming with friends in Antalya's Serik district, has been found. The identity of the 23-year-old was confirmed through DNA analysis conducted on a male body discovered on the shore of Beldibi neighborhood in Kemer district.
Citizens who saw a person lying motionless on Beldibi beach reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the alert, Coast Guard and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
Medical teams determined that the individual, who was found with no identification and whose body integrity was compromised, had lost his life. Initial assessments suggested the body could belong to Dzhumabekov, who had entered the sea to cool off with friends a few days earlier in Kadriye neighborhood of Serik district and was swept away by waves.
A DNA sample was taken from the young man's family for definitive identification. Following examinations at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue, the DNA match was completed, confirming that the discovered body was that of Erlan Dzhumabekov.
The forensic report stated that the young man suffered a cramp in his leg while swimming in the sea, after which he found himself in distress, began to struggle, and was then carried away by a current and drowned.
It was learned that Dzhumabekov's body was handed over to his family after the procedures and sent to his home country for burial.
