Within the scope of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, a panel titled 'Towards the Summit' was held as part of the 'Allies in Ankara' program organized by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications in cooperation with the Munich Security Conference (MSC) and the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA).
The 'Towards the Summit' panel held at Ankara Palas was attended by Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Chair of the Turkish Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) and AK Party Antalya Deputy; British MP Stuart Anderson; US Senator Mike Rounds; Co-Chair of the US Senate NATO Observer Group and Senior Member of the Foreign Relations Committee Jeanne Shaheen; and Slovak MP Tomas Valasek.
In his speech, Çavuşoğlu stated that Türkiye's role would not be limited to hosting the NATO Summit but would also continue its mediation mission.
Shaheen, for her part, conveyed that Americans' support for NATO is at its peak, noting that the defense spending of 32 allies has reached 2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and progress is being made toward the 5 percent target.
