Colombian rapper Chelo Hop performed at the Hip Hop al Parque festival, held on October 24-25 at Simón Bolívar Park in the capital Bogotá. Footage shared from the concert shows a person next to the rapper waving an Israeli flag on stage, after which the rapper stepped on the flag with his feet as it lay on the ground, while continuing to perform.
According to the Bogotá Municipality's festival promotion, Chelo Hop is a Colombian rap project led by artist Karol Restrepo. The project's songs, produced by AstrallBass, address social issues such as resistance and women's experiences.
The rapper joined this year's festival program among the local artists who won the municipality's arts grant in the MC category. Held free of charge, Hip Hop al Parque took place for the 28th time this year.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro severed diplomatic relations with Israel in May 2024 over the war in Gaza.
