Contact lost with ship carrying 241 people off Indonesia
Contact was lost with a ship traveling from Surabaya in Indonesia’s East Java province to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan province at around 2 a.m. local time. Search-and-rescue teams were dispatched to the ship’s last estimated location.
Contact was lost at around 2 a.m. local time with a ship carrying 241 people that was traveling from Surabaya in Indonesia’s East Java province to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan province.
The ship operator notified authorities after receiving information that the vessel had encountered severe weather conditions. The ship disappeared off the coast of Java.
Search-and-rescue operation launched
Search-and-rescue teams were dispatched to the ship’s last estimated location. All available resources were mobilized to locate the missing people, and the operation is being conducted in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
