The Central Executive Board (MYK) of the DEM Party issued a written statement regarding the execution of Kurdish youths Ramin Zelleh and Karim Maroufpour in Iran. The statement noted that the Iranian administration has added new violations to its practices infringing on human rights and the right to life, stating that the two Kurdish youths were executed following "online trials with no legal basis."
The Iranian regime continues to add to its practices that disregard universal human rights, the right to life, and the freedom demands of peoples every day. We have learned with great anger and sorrow that Kurdish youths Ramin Zelleh and Karim Maroufpour were executed in Nakadeh Prison after being completely deprived of the right to a fair trial through online hearings that had no legal foundation.
The Iranian regime is rapidly eliminating internal opposition by exploiting regional conflicts and the climate of war as an opportunity.
In just the last three months, dozens of revolutionaries, intellectuals, and youths have been executed, including Kurdish politician Saman Mohammadi Khiareh, imprisoned for 16 years; Baloch youth Abduljalil Shahbakhsh, secretly hanged; and 19-year-old wrestler Saleh Mohammadi, who was tortured into confessing for participating in the January 2026 protests.
This comprehensive attack by the Iranian regime disproportionately targets all opposition groups in society—Kurdish, Baloch, Azeri, Arab, and Persian alike—and is a policy aimed at intimidating, silencing, and subjugating the peoples fighting for democracy, freedom, and equality in the country.
This dark mentality, which condemns youths to death through 'accelerated' sham courts held in torture chambers lasting only minutes, will never suppress the freedom demands of peoples. History bears witness to this. The right to life is absolute and sacred; it cannot be usurped by any political regime or ideology.
Today, Iran is one of the first regimes that comes to mind when discussing 'political executions.' If the regime believes it can discipline women, youths, artists, activists, and all oppressed peoples with death sentences, it is gravely mistaken. The slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi' (Woman, Life, Freedom), which rose after the murder of Jina Amini, has become the clearest response of the peoples against this outdated execution regime.
The loss of Ramin Zelleh, Karim Maroufpour, and all those who were hanged will not diminish this determination to resist; on the contrary, it will strengthen the legitimate struggle against the regime and the justified anger. As the DEM Party, we respectfully commemorate Ramin Zelleh, Karim Maroufpour, Saman Mohammadi Khiareh, and all revolutionary and freedom-loving prisoners executed for their opposition identities; we extend our condolences to their families and comrades.
We strongly condemn these brutal execution decisions and political massacres by the Iranian regime. We call on the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the entire democratic public to take stronger, concrete, and deterrent steps against these unlawful executions accelerated under the pretext of regional crises. The death penalty is not justice; it is a political murder carried out by the state.
We will persist in our struggle and solidarity until executions end in our region and worldwide, and until every identity and belief is free. Ali Babacan: "Erdoğan has gone down in history as the president who imposed the highest interest burden on the treasury."
