DEM Party Amed Deputy Serhat Eren brought to the Parliament agenda the mass deaths of many cats in the Seyrantepe Housing Complex in the Yenişehir district. Eren called for identifying those responsible and fully clarifying the case.
DEM Party Amed Deputy Serhat Eren brought to the Parliament agenda the mass killing of many cats in the 3rd Stage Housing Complex located on 8th Street in Seyrantepe Neighborhood, Yenişehir district.
Shared footage and citizen reports raised allegations that the cats may have been poisoned or killed by physical assault.
Highlighting the legal framework
Eren reminded that according to Animal Protection Law No. 5199 and the Turkish Penal Code, intentionally killing stray animals is a crime.
The deputy emphasized the need to identify those responsible for the incident and to clarify all aspects of what happened.
Call for investigation of the incident
The issue was brought to Parliament following reports and footage related to animal deaths in the area. Eren stressed not only the identification of the incident but also uncovering the chain of responsibility.
The case has sparked renewed debate regarding the protection of stray animals and local-level supervision responsibilities.
