President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to journalists at the Turkish House in New York about the investigation, which has been described in the public sphere as a “fund crisis” and concerns hundreds of thousands of investors.

Erdoğan said the problem should not spread across the entire capital market, adding that it had emerged in a limited area and among a certain number of funds.
President Erdoğan said the current situation should not be considered a risk to Türkiye’s financial system or economy as a whole, adding that attributing the problem to the entire market would be unfair to Borsa İstanbul.
Erdoğan said the necessary steps had been taken within the framework of capital market principles and the law, adding that the relevant institutions were continuing the investigation and that the judiciary was conducting a comprehensive process.
“Anyone responsible will be held accountable before the law. There must not be the slightest hesitation on this matter,” Erdoğan said.
Erdoğan said the investigation should be conducted both transparently and carefully, taking into account the sensitive nature of the capital markets, and added that this was also the direction of the instructions given to the relevant institutions.

New measures will be implemented
President Erdoğan announced that the necessary measures, including legal and administrative regulations, would be taken to prevent similar problems from occurring again.
In the fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, transactions carried out through certain funds and companies are being examined, while MASAK was also asked to investigate various money and crypto-asset movements.

Detention and arrest orders were issued as part of the investigation, while freezing and seizure measures were applied to hundreds of millions of lira in some fund accounts.
Erdoğan said that the necessary legal action would be taken against those found responsible at the conclusion of the investigation.
