European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, and European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner will pay an official visit to Turkey on June 29-30.
The visit was announced in a statement by the European External Action Service (EEAS). The delegation's program includes planned meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
The EEAS statement noted that this visit takes place just before the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8. The statement said, "The visit will offer an opportunity to review EU-Turkey relations in the context of Turkey's status as an EU candidate country and NATO ally, to address common challenges the parties face in an increasingly unstable geopolitical environment, and to find new avenues for cooperation."
This trip will be Kaja Kallas's second official visit to Turkey as EU Foreign Relations Chief.
