Fenerbahçe defeated England's Liverpool 3-2 at home in the fourth week of the UEFA Champions League. Twice falling behind at Chobani Stadium, the Yellow-Navy side secured victory with goals from Mason Greenwood, Archie Brown and Vedat Muriqi. Fenerbahçe raised its points total to five after four matches, while Liverpool suffered its first points loss of the season.
Greenwood's free kick restores parity
Liverpool took the lead in the 25th minute when Nyoni's shot from the edge of the penalty area deflected off Oppong and went into the net. Fenerbahçe's İrfan Can Kahveci struck the crossbar in the 27th minute. The Yellow-Navy side equalized in the 29th minute: Greenwood's free kick from behind the penalty arc hit Jacquet in the wall and changed direction before leaving goalkeeper Alisson Becker wrong-footed and finding the net. The first half ended 1-1.

Brown and Vedat Muriqi turn the match around
Liverpool went ahead again in the second half in the 69th minute when Isak headed in Gakpo's cross. Fenerbahçe leveled four minutes later: Archie Brown found the ball at the far post after it ricocheted off the defense from Kante's cross and sent it into the open goal from a narrow angle. In the 79th minute, Vedat Muriqi's header from Brown's cross on the right put the Yellow-Navy side 3-2 ahead.

Victory comes after 6,790 days
Fenerbahçe's last Champions League victory came against Chelsea in the quarterfinals on April 2, 2008, during the 2007-08 season. The Yellow-Navy side celebrated again against Liverpool after a gap of 6,790 days. Greenwood scored in his second consecutive match after the game against Slavia Prague, while left-back Archie Brown also scored his third Champions League goal of the season.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola said after the match: "We conceded simple goals. We took the lead twice, but there were moments when we needed to defend better. This is a difficult atmosphere to play in."
