Fenerbahçe host English side Liverpool tonight in the fourth week of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The match at Chobani Stadium will kick off at 20:45 and carries special significance for Dirk Kuyt, who is part of the Yellow-Navy Blues' coaching staff: the Dutchman played for Liverpool between 2006 and 2012 and will now be on the bench of Fenerbahçe, where he also played between 2012 and 2015, against his former club.
French referee Clement Turpin will officiate the match. Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages will serve as his assistants, while Jeremy Stinat will be the fourth official.

Winless and struggling in defense
Fenerbahçe have collected two points in the Champions League after drawing twice and losing once in their three previous matches. The Yellow-Navy Blues scored three goals and conceded nine in those games. After drawing 2-2 at home with Slavia Prague despite leading 2-0, the team also suffered consecutive defeats in the Süper Lig.
Nathan Ake and Marco Asensio, who are dealing with injuries, will be unavailable for the Yellow-Navy Blues tonight. The status of Kojo Oppong, who was injured in the Göztepe match, will be determined at kickoff. If Oppong cannot play, Milan Skriniar and Yiğit Efe Demir will be the remaining options at center-back.

310th European match
The match against Liverpool will be Fenerbahçe's 310th in European competitions. In their previous 309 matches, the Yellow-Navy Blues recorded 122 wins, 69 draws and 118 defeats, scoring 420 goals and conceding 435. Fenerbahçe will play their 44th Champions League match; in their previous 43 games in the tournament, they recorded 11 wins, eight draws and 24 defeats.
Fenerbahçe first took part in the Champions League in the 1996-97 season and reached the quarter-finals, their best result in the tournament, in the 2007-08 season. The Yellow-Navy Blues will face English teams for the 25th time tonight.
