As the countdown for LGS and YKS continues, the final stretch has begun for millions of students and families. Before the LGS on June 13 and the YKS on June 21-22, both efforts to complete missing parts and exam anxiety come to the forefront.
Expert student coach Sezer Kamir said that trying to learn new topics in the last days can create unnecessary stress for students. According to Kamir, the main important thing at this stage is to strengthen the known topics and make them usable in the exam.
Kamir emphasized that short reviews, solving questions, and analyzing mistakes are more beneficial during this period. He especially pointed out that focusing on topics that have not been completed increases the student's mental load.
Kamir stated that looking at the question distributions from previous years will also be guiding, and expressed that instead of allocating equal time to every topic, focusing on areas more frequently asked in exams is a more correct approach.
Kamir said that planned studying stands out rather than studying too much during this process, and stated that now more emphasis should be placed on practice exams rather than learning new topics. Thus, it is considered that students can better experience both time management and exam pace.
Recently, it has been observed that the pressure of comparison among students has also increased. Kamir said that following how many correct answers their friends have creates unnecessary stress, and that everyone has different weaknesses and learning speeds.
Kamir also pointed out that parents have an important role, stating that constantly asking children how many correct answers they have or whether they have studied enough can increase pressure. It was emphasized that during this process, it is important for students to feel good psychologically as well as academic results.
One practice exam also draws attention during the preparation process before YKS. Raunt, the university preparation platform of Sabit Net, a subsidiary of Türk Telekom, is organizing a free TYT and AYT practice exam nationwide on June 6-7 before the YKS on June 20-21.
With this rehearsal, it is aimed for candidates to experience time management, reduce exam stress, and see their rankings across Turkey. It was also conveyed that the system offers personalized study plans according to the level by instantly analyzing mistakes in the tests.
