Fire Breaks Out at Mattress Factory in Konya, One Firefighter Injured
A fire that broke out at a mattress factory in Konya's Karatay district quickly spread. During the intervention, a firefighter trapped inside was injured, and an investigation has been launched.
A fire broke out around 16:30 at a mattress factory located in the Karatay district of Konya. Flames rising from the factory inside the Furniture Industrial Site on Sözerler Street in Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood quickly engulfed the building.
Following the alert, numerous fire trucks, water cannon vehicles (TOMA), police, and medical teams were dispatched to the area. While the teams intervened in the fire, factory workers tried to remove materials from inside.
During the intervention, a firefighter became trapped among the flames and was injured. Rescued by his colleagues, the firefighter was taken by ambulance to Konya City Hospital.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished thanks to the efforts of the teams. Cooling operations continue in the area, and security measures have been taken around the factory.
It is suggested that the fire may have started due to the explosion of a compressor machine. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
