Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan paid a working visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). During a series of meetings in Nicosia, Fidan separately met TRNC President Tufan Erhürman, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared photographs from the meetings on its official social media accounts.
The talks in Nicosia were expected to address bilateral issues between the two countries, as well as recent developments in the Cyprus issue.

Presidential Palace was Fidan's first stop
Fidan's first meeting in Nicosia was with TRNC President Tufan Erhürman. After being received by Erhürman, Fidan met with TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel. In his final meeting of the day, Foreign Minister Fidan met with his counterpart, Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu.

Holguin continues contacts on the island
The visit coincided with a period when Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres's Personal Representative on Cyprus, was continuing her contacts on the island. Holguin, who was on the island from October 29 to November 10, held a one-on-one meeting with Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus leader Nikos Hristodulidis on October 30 and with TRNC President Erhürman on November 2.

Türkiye's position
Türkiye, which continues its efforts as the motherland and guarantor state for the security, development and welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people, wants Turkish Cypriots to live freely and prosperously on the island as equal rights holders, in line with their own wishes. Ankara consistently emphasizes that the most realistic solution to the Cyprus issue is for the two states on the island to coexist side by side, and that the Turkish Cypriots' sovereign equality and equal international status must be recognized by the international community.
