According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting hosted by Fidan tomorrow will be attended by Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
At the Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting, the existing cooperation among the three countries will be reviewed, and joint areas of work for the upcoming period will be discussed.
The three main agenda items are "Regional Developments, Foreign Policy Issues, and Cooperation in the South Caucasus," "Transportation, Connectivity, and Strengthening Regional Transit Networks," and "Energy Security, Trade, and Deepening Economic Cooperation."
Fidan will emphasize that amid increasing geopolitical uncertainties, economic vulnerabilities, and security challenges, the strategic importance of the South Caucasus has grown even more.
He will underline that the trilateral cooperation mechanism among the countries is a significant and results-oriented platform promoting stability and prosperity in the region, and highlight that Turkey's strong and multifaceted relations with Azerbaijan and Georgia contribute substantially to regional stability and economic integration.
Fidan will draw attention to the increased importance of the Middle Corridor in terms of connectivity between Europe and Asia, especially in light of recent transformations in global supply chains, energy supply security debates, and changing geoeconomic dynamics.
Within this context, Minister Fidan will note that strengthening regional transportation projects on the Middle Corridor, particularly the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line, developing logistics networks, and expanding transportation opportunities are among the shared priorities.
He will stress that strategic projects implemented in the energy sector provide significant contributions not only for the three countries but also for the broader region's energy security, and will emphasize the importance of further developing cooperation and coordination in existing energy and sustainable connectivity areas.
Fidan will state that establishing lasting peace, stability, and normalization in the South Caucasus is of strategic importance for enhancing regional prosperity.
He will point out that the Russia-Ukraine War continues to pose a threat to the South Caucasus, the Black Sea, and neighboring regions, and will call for support of diplomatic efforts to end the conflict as soon as possible with a just and lasting peace.
The Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meetings were established to institutionalize political dialogue among the three countries and strengthen regional cooperation. The first meeting in this format was held on June 8, 2012, in Trabzon, and the most recent took place on March 15, 2024, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
Meetings held under the trilateral mechanism address common agenda items such as foreign policy and regional developments, transportation and connectivity, energy security, trade, economic relations, and regional infrastructure projects. Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are located on a strategic connection route between Europe and Asia.
Within this framework, projects aimed at strengthening the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line, the Middle Corridor, and regional logistics networks, as well as strategic energy cooperation, form the core elements of the partnership among the three countries.
The Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia Trilateral Mechanism, which has been continuously maintained for nearly 14 years, also stands out as a concrete manifestation of the shared vision to promote stability, economic integration, and regional prosperity in the South Caucasus.
