The Foreign Ministry paid tribute with respect and prayers for mercy to Ismail Erez, Türkiye's ambassador to Paris, and his official driver, Talip Yener, who were martyred in an attack carried out by the Armenian terrorist organizations ASALA and JCAG in Paris on October 24, 1975.
Erez and Yener were attacked with firearms and killed near the Bir-Hakeim Bridge while returning to the embassy in an official vehicle. Both terrorist organizations claimed responsibility for the attack.

Two ambassadors killed two days apart
The attack in Paris took place just two days after Türkiye's ambassador to Vienna, Daniş Tunalıgil, was martyred on October 22, 1975.
Numerous Turkish diplomats serving abroad, along with their family members and staff, were martyred in attacks carried out by ASALA and JCAG during the 1970s and 1980s. The Foreign Ministry commemorates the martyred diplomats every year on the anniversaries of their deaths.
